Welcome to the Heart of Valley School!

Valley School’s library supports the School’s mission by nurturing students’ love for literature and learning at every stage of their development. From Caldecott read-alouds, to author studies, to Reader’s Workshop, the academic work in our library is built on getting the just-right book into the hands of each student. As we prepare the next generation for a world more interconnected than we know, our collection strives to provide bridges for students’ curiosities, offers opportunities for deeper understanding, and requires that students practice the skills of discernment as they navigate both a breadth and depth of information. 

The library is a space that welcomes and offers resources for every member of our community. In addition to utilizing the library during free periods, Valley School students and teachers take advantage of the library for cross-curricular projects and honing research skills.
Whether you’re enjoying coffee with fellow parents in the Cathey Family Young Adult Center or browsing our extensive Caldecott Collection, the heart of the School awaits your next visit.

    Age-based ratings, reviews, and guidance for everything families want to watch, read, play, and learn.
  • World Book
    Engages users with a progressive sequence of core databases supported by tools and supplemental sites, including translations to over 100 languages, primary source material, educator resources, and a plethora of games, science projects, and activities.

  • Audio Book Cloud
    An audiobook database for all ages. The link above provides direct access to the Children’s section.
  • Teen Book Cloud
    A curated database of e-books and other digital content for middle schools and high schools, as well as public libraries. The growing collection features over 1000 titles, including student-favorite graphic novels, enhanced e-books with full audio narration and highlighted text, classic literature, national geographic videos, and more! 
  • Tumble Book Library
    A curated database of children's e-books, available by subscription to elementary schools and public libraries around the world.  TumbleBook Library Premium has over 1,100 titles for grades K-6, and includes unique animated, talking picture books, read-along chapter books, national geographic videos, non-fiction books, and playlists, as well as books in Spanish and French. Plus, the collection features graphic novels—a student favorite! 
  • TumbleMath
    A collection of animated, talking storybooks created to help students with basic math concepts. Using the familiar TumbleBook format, audio and visual learning combine to teach math in an inviting way. Kids can read along or simply listen to the books.
