Beth Wehner

“‘It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.’ These words speak to me from the pages of The Little Prince, and reflect my love of guiding 3rd-graders in making important discoveries through literature exploration and authentic engagement with our Valley Core Values.”
Grade 3 Teacher

After studying abroad in France, Beth graduated from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University before writing and editing for publications in three states. During that time, however, life-changing volunteer tutoring of adult learners planted the seeds for a phenomenal future career in education. Supporting these resilient, brave, and perseverant students in reaching their literacy goals inspired Beth to pursue a master’s degree in elementary education while working and raising her two beloved children.

Beth joyfully joined the Valley School community in 2016, bringing her teaching experience from public school and private Montessori classrooms. Dedicated to sparking a fierce love of reading and confident understanding of the writing process in her curious young students, she cherishes her role as a guide of learners in making important connections to the world around them.

Poetry, language studies, exploring in nature, and the laughter of her students make her heart smile.
